Immigration is as old as human history itself, and it is the reason why humans are scattered across so many corners of the world. However, it wasn’t done on the scale that we see today. Many people immigrate for a variety of reasons, but one thing is for certain when moving to a new country and having a family there: language gaps. This is the reality for so many immigrant families.
Language is part of our identities as well as a bridge for all our relationships. Yet that bridge becomes difficult to maintain when we struggle to communicate with each other. Every time, this issue can create several consequences, such as miscommunication, a lack of empathy, misunderstandings, emotional distance, and unconscious resentment.
